myopia among primary school-age children in China: a three-year longitudinal study”.

 

He mentioned that with the support of the Chancheng District Education Bureau, 1,840 students from 39 classes in 4 primary schools in Foshan City participated in this study. The study adopted a fully randomized method, with class groups divided into classes according to a 1:1 random control. The classrooms in the control group were illuminated by world-renowned brands, while the classrooms in the intervention group were illuminated by simulated healthy natural light sources from a special health chip produced by Casio. All students underwent uncorrected visual acuity and best-corrected visual acuity measurements, nonmydriatic refraction, ocular biometric examination, and strabismus examination.

 

At three years of follow-up, the students underwent the same procedure. A sample of 1,840 students participated, including 894 students in 19 classes in the control group and 946 students in 20 classes in the intervention group. The mean ± standard deviation age was 7.50 ± 0.53 years. The three-year cumulative incidence rate of myopia in the control group was 26.4% (207 cases of myopia among 784 eligible participants at baseline), and that in the intervention group was 21.2%. After nearly three years of follow-up research and comparison of nearly 1,840 students , the project concluded that the use of light health lamps that simulate natural light sources can reduce the three-year incidence of myopia in children and adolescents by 5.2%.

 

At the same time, he emphasized that enterprises should not only provide lighting fixtures, but also pay attention to health. He also envisioned that healthy lighting can not only protect the health of eyesight, but also have a great impact on physical health, mental health, and respiratory health.
